  3. Your quote includes review of one draft, so you’ll have the opportunity to provide your feedback before the document is finalised.
  4. Once the document is finalised, we proof and lock your document before sending you the final files.

Why you should make accessibility a priority

Did you know, almost half of all Australians have low literacy?

A study carried out by the Australian Bureau of Statistics found that 44% of Australians between the ages of 15 and 74 cannot read or write above a basic level of literacy.

That’s almost half of all Australians who may not be able to understand your information to access your services, purchase your product or be active participants in their communities.

Easy English is the simple solution that benefits you and the community.

When you decide to present your information in Easy English, you’re saying yes to inclusivity, equal access to information, increased opportunities for vulnerable members of our community, and improved communication with your audiences.

Including all people in the community through providing accessible communication is not only the right thing to do, it is also the law.

Legislation about accessible information

There is significant legislation at an international, federal, and state level of government about the requirement to provide information for people in an accessible format.

For example:

  • the UN Convention on Rights of People with Disability 2006 notes the importance of accessibility to the physical, social, economic and cultural environment, to health and education and to information and communication, in enabling persons with disabilities to fully enjoy all human rights and fundamental freedoms.
  • under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992, Australian Government agencies are required to ensure information and services are provided in a non-discriminatory accessible manner.
